I photographed this 929 acre lightning caused wildland fire on June 14th, 2013. It started on June 13 and was suppressed and 100% contained nine days later. Burning in mostly oak brush and under 1000 acres, this fire demonstrated that not all western wildfire is “catastrophic.”  Most landscapes that evolved with fire, like this one, need fire to remain healthy.
